Overview
In RaveCapture, Experience Survey responses can be displayed publicly and even count as product reviews—but only if they are properly tagged to a product. This article explains how to ensure your Experience Survey responses are connected to the correct product, either through automated tagging during submission or manual tagging during moderation.
Why Tagging Matters
To be eligible for product widgets, trust badges, and UGC carousels, a survey response must:
Be tagged to a valid product (using a Product Tag)
Include a Star Rating
Include a Free Text response
This combination allows the response to count as a product review and be published across your display widgets. Without the product tag, the response remains isolated and won’t appear on your site’s product pages or aggregate review stats.
Option 1: Auto-Tagging via Product Select Question
The most reliable and scalable way to tag survey responses is through the Product Select question in the Experience Survey Builder.
Step-by-Step:
Add a Product Select question to your survey.
Ensure the setting "Set Tags Based on Answers" is enabled.
This is enabled by default when you add the Product Select question type.
Customers choose their product from the list during the survey.
Upon submission, the selected product is automatically tagged to the response.
Note: If "Set Tags Based on Answers" is disabled, the response will not be tagged automatically—even if a product is selected.
Why this is preferred:
Ensures consistency at scale
No manual moderation required
Tags tie directly to product title logic in the Product Library
Option 2: Manual Tagging via Experience Survey Moderation
If a response was submitted without a Product Select question or tagging was skipped, you can still manually assign a product tag during moderation.
How to Tag Manually:
Go to Review Management > Experience Surveys
Open the Unpublished tab (or any other tab where the response appears)
Click Add Tag on the response
Begin typing the product name and select the matching item
If no matching product appears, that product may not exist in the Product Library yet
Tip: Always tag existing products. Creating a tag that doesn’t match an existing product may cause display issues.
Tagging via Bulk Invite (Advanced)
When using Bulk Invite to send surveys:
Including a Product ID in the CSV does not automatically apply a tag
The tag is only applied if the survey contains a Product Select question with tagging enabled
Alternatively, you can tag the response later during moderation
Behavior When Tags Are Applied
Once a valid product tag is present, the response becomes eligible for display in:
Product Review Widgets
Trust Banners / Badges
Slide Tab Displays
Visual UGC Galleries (if media is also published)
If visuals are included, they must also be published after the survey is approved
Reminder: Publishing visuals alone does not make them public. The parent survey must be published first.
Best Practices
Always use the Product Select + Free Text + Star Rating combo for product review eligibility
Use auto-tagging whenever possible to avoid human error
Check the Product Library before manually creating a new tag
If survey responses aren’t showing up, verify the product tag is correct and tied to an active product
