What Are Experience Surveys?

Experience Surveys in RaveCapture are flexible feedback forms used to gather customer sentiment, product insights, and user-generated content (UGC). Unlike traditional review requests, these surveys can be used for nearly any purpose—they do not require a star rating or free text field, making them ideal for everything from NPS collection to visual contests.

Experience Surveys are available on:

  • Power Plan: Access to General Surveys (manual distribution only)

  • Enterprise Plan: Full access, including automated survey types and smart triggers

Why Experience Surveys Matter

Experience Surveys unlock powerful use cases across your customer journey:

  • Post-Purchase Feedback: Go beyond general reviews with targeted follow-up questions.

  • Visual UGC Collection: Include required photo/video uploads for marketing use.

  • Loyalty & Satisfaction: Use NPS and slider questions to gauge sentiment.

  • Review Follow-up: Engage after reviews to collect more detail or close the loop.

  • Contests & Campaigns: Create photo contests or giveaway entry surveys.

  • Event Feedback: Collect insights after virtual or in-person events.

  • Product-Specific Targeting: Tie surveys to tagged products for contextual engagement.

Survey Types & Triggers

Enterprise users can automate surveys based on behavior. Each survey has one trigger type:

Product-Type Triggers

  • Instead of Product Review: Replaces default review request

  • In Addition to Product Review: Sends alongside review request

  • Product Follow-up: Sends after a review is submitted

Company-Type Triggers

  • Instead of Company Review: Replaces company review request

  • In Addition to Company Review: Sends alongside company review

  • Company Follow-up: Sends after a company review is submitted

General Surveys (Power + Enterprise)

  • Manually shared via link, QR code, or manual email (no automation)

Delivery Methods

You can send Experience Surveys in several ways:

  • Auto-Triggers (Enterprise only): Based on product/order/review events

  • Direct Request: Manually send to one customer

  • Bulk Upload: Upload a list of customers with optional product IDs

  • Shareable Link or QR Code: Embed in email, packaging, or web pages

Note: Name, email, and product info are only autofilled in triggered or manually sent surveys. For link/QR surveys, use the Customer Info + Product Select questions to capture identity.

How Survey Responses Work

All submissions route through Experience Survey Moderation (not Product Review Moderation).

A response can qualify as a Product Review if it includes:

  • Product Select question (with Set Tags Based on Answers enabled)

  • Star Rating

  • Free Text response

If those are present, the response:

  • Is auto-tagged with the selected product

  • Appears in Product Review widgets (if published)

  • Counts toward Trust Score and average rating

You can also publish photos/videos to UGC Galleries, Carousel Widgets, and Trust Elements—as long as the parent survey is published.

Supported Question Types

Experience Surveys support 13 customizable question types:

  • Description (intro)

  • Star Rating ☕

  • Visual Upload (photos/videos) 📸

  • Single Choice

  • Multiple Choice

  • Free Text ✍️

  • Slider

  • NPS (Net Promoter Score)

  • Question Group (grouped Qs)

  • Customer Info (name, email, etc.)

  • Map Location

  • Product Select ⛰ (use for tagging/display logic)

  • Consent Question

Each can be marked required and/or private.

Moderation, Tagging & Display Logic

Survey responses are managed in Review Management > Experience Surveys.

Key Display & Tagging Behavior:

  • Only responses with a product tag can appear in product widgets

  • Tags can be applied manually in moderation or via Product Select question (with tagging enabled)

  • If no product tag is present, the response stays internal only

  • Publishing is required before media can display in UGC tools

Best Practices

  • ✅ Use Product Select + Star Rating + Free Text to qualify as a Product Review

  • 📄 Use General Surveys for contests, events, or one-off feedback campaigns

  • ⏳ Stagger survey delays to avoid over-messaging customers

  • 📊 Use Smart Reminders (Enterprise only) to improve response rates

  • 🔍 Include Customer Info fields in link surveys to track identity

  • ✏️ Periodically audit your moderation view to publish visuals and maintain tagging accuracy
