Discover how to display your Photos & Videos in a carousel

Updated over 3 months ago

The Visual Carousel is part of our Visual Marketing feature suite.

Why Use a Visual Carousel?

UGC is powerful and it’s been proven to boost conversions by up to 29%. Why? Because it feels genuine, relatable, and trustworthy. UGC builds trust and credibility and gets visitors to click the Buy Now button. Here are some reasons why displaying UGC on your site matters:

  • Relatability: When potential customers see products being used by people similar to themselves, it becomes easier to imagine owning and using those products.

  • Trust: User-generated content serves as powerful social proof. It demonstrates that real people are purchasing and enjoying your products, not just paid influencers or models.

  • Environment Diversity: UGC naturally showcases a range of people, situations, and use cases that might not be considered in a controlled photo shoot.

  • Cost-effectiveness: While professional shoots have their place, UGC can provide a steady stream of content for free.

  • Engagement: Featuring customer content encourages more customers to share, creating a positive feedback loop.

Overview

Collecting customer photos & videos is a great way to show off your content to prospective site visitors. The Visual Carousel allows you to showcase all of your review photos & videos + Instagram curated content in a horizontal slider that works great on any page.

RaveCapture makes it easy to create as many carousels as you want, with unique content settings & design.

To start using the Visual Carousel, go to Display Widgets in the left menu and select Visual Carousel. The New Carousel tab has three sections:

  • Settings

  • Design

  • Experiences

The first step is to customize the name of the carousel.

The name is an internal value that is not shown anywhere else, besides the settings page. Pick a name that either represents where the carousel will sit, or the type of content, such as "Instagram Photos", so you can better find it in the future.

The second step is to customize the type of content to be displayed within the carousel.

The third step is to select your display options.

  • Limit to a Specific Product

    • If you would like to place a carousel on your product pages and to only display Photos & Videos matching the product on the page, select this option.

  • Limit to Visual Tags

    • Create a custom carousel that only displays visuals with specific visual tags. These tags are assigned to content within the UGC studio.

  • Limit to a Specific Survey (Available on Enterprise Plan)

    • Choose to show only visuals collected from a specific survey

  • Show Visual Preview

  • Auto Scroll

  • Show Review Title

    • If collecting review titles, an optional display

With these display options, you can create as many carousels as you like. Here are a few examples:

  • Instagram Carousel for your homepage

  • Product Specific Carousel for your product pages

  • All content with an infinite scroll on your dedicated Review Page

  • Submissions from a photo contest submitted via a specific survey

The fourth step is to customize the design associated with your new carousel. To do this, click on the "Design" Tab.

RaveCapture offers many ways to customize how the content will appear on the carousel and also within the overlay that displays when a customer clicks on a Photo or Video. This is broken down into 3 main areas:

  • Layout

    • Customize the title that sits above the carousel, along with its font type, alignment, and font size.

  • Call to Action

    • When customers click on an item in the carousel, it will display an overlay. In this overlay, there is a "Buy Now" button, which links to your product page. Use these settings to customize the button text, along with the link.

  • Colors

    • This last section allows you to customize the Title color and Button color.

      • The title means the text that sits above the carousel

      • Button meaning the "Buy Now" button in the overlay

Add a Survey Submission Button to your Carousel

This fifth step is optional. From the Experiences tab, you can connect a survey to your carousel and customize the Submission Button. This will allow your customers to submit content directly from your Carousel by completing the survey you have connected to the carousel.

Installing your Visual Carousel

Once you're done configuring everything, click on "Save & Generate Code" to complete the process. Once you click this button a few things will happen:

  • The code to be placed on your website is generated and displayed below

  • The carousel settings are saved, under the internal name. You can access your carousel at any time for changes, by going to: Existing Carousels

Tip: Install your carousel above your product review widget on product pages or dedicated reviews page to showcase your UGC and capture shoppers' attention.
