AI Review Summaries

Generate automatic AI-powered summaries of your product reviews and display them directly inside your Product Review Widget.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

Review Summaries give your shoppers a quick, trustworthy snapshot of what customers are saying — without requiring them to read dozens of reviews.

When enabled, RaveCapture automatically analyzes recent customer feedback for each product and generates a short, neutral, 3–5 sentence summary. This summary appears at the top of your Product Review Widget and can be expanded or collapsed by visitors.

This helps shoppers understand the overall sentiment at a glance, boosts engagement with your review content, and supports faster purchase decisions.

How It Works

Once Review Summaries are enabled:

  • RaveCapture checks each product that has recent review activity.

  • If the product meets the requirements (see below), an AI-generated summary is created or updated.

  • The summary displays in the Product Review Widget (Design Style 1 & 2) directly under the Filter Reviews input.

  • Shoppers click your custom button text (e.g., “See Summary”) to expand or collapse the summary.

Default state: Collapsed

Requirements for Review Summaries to Generate

A summary is created or refreshed only when all the following conditions are met:

Account-level Requirements

  • Plan includes the Review Summary permission (starting at the Power Plan)

  • Account language is English

  • Review Summary is enabled in Account Settings → Review Summary

Product-Level Requirements

A product must:

  • Have been viewed via the Product Review Widget within the last 30 days

  • Have 5+ eligible reviews (published, not reported)

  • Meet your selected Review Threshold Filter:

    • All Reviews

    • 5-Star Only

    • 4-Star and Above

    • 3-Star and Above

Data Used in the Summary

The summary analyzes up to 20 most recent customer entries (by date):

  • Product Review comments

  • Experience Survey open-text answers

What the AI Summary Includes

Each summary is generated using a structured AI prompt that ensures:

  • Neutral, clear, third-person language

  • A mix of positive themes and constructive common feedback

  • No quotes, customer names, or exaggerated claims

  • A concise 3–5 sentence paragraph suitable for shopper-facing product pages

Summaries are refreshed every 2 hours via RaveCapture’s automated job.

Enabling Review Summaries

Step 1: Open the Review Summary Settings

  • Account Settings → Review Summary; This new tab appears next to the General tab for eligible merchants.

Step 2: Enable the Feature

  • Toggle on: ☑ Enable AI Review Summary; When disabled, no summaries will be created or shown.

Step 3: Choose Your Review Threshold Filter

Select which reviews the summary should consider:

  • All Reviews

  • 5-Star Only

  • 4-Star and Above

  • 3-Star and Above

This helps you control whether your summaries reflect only top-tier reviews or a broader sentiment.

Step 4: Customize Your Button Text

  • Set the expand/collapse button label shown on product pages; you can update this to match your branding or tone.

Where Review Summaries Appear

Review Summaries are displayed:

  • On Product Review Widgets (both Design Style 1 and Design Style 2)

  • Directly under the Filter Reviews input

  • As a collapsible block shoppers can expand

When previewing from the widget builder, a placeholder summary is shown instead of live AI content.

Why You Might Not See a Summary Yet

A product’s summary will not appear if:

  • The feature is disabled

  • Your plan does not include the Review Summary permission

  • Language is not set to English

  • The product has fewer than 5 qualifying reviews

  • The product has no recent widget activity (no visits within 30 days)

  • All available reviews are filtered out by your threshold setting

  • The summary has not yet been generated (runs every 2 hours)

Best Practices & Tips

  • Use “All Reviews” to provide the most balanced, credible summary

  • Keep your button text simple (“See Summary”, “Read Overview”, “Customer Highlights”)

  • Combine with review filters so shoppers can explore the detailed sentiment behind the summary

  • Monitor product activity — if a product’s widget is never viewed, summaries won't be created

  • Use Experience Surveys to enrich summaries with more contextual sentiment
