Why Adding Product Reviews to Microsoft Shopping Ads Matters
Integrating your RaveCapture Product Reviews into Microsoft Shopping Ads is a powerful way to stand out in Bing Shopping and across the Microsoft Advertising network. Here's why it matters:
Increase Click-Through Rates (CTR): Ads featuring star ratings are more visually compelling and consistently drive higher engagement from shoppers.
Build Trust at First Sight: Displaying real customer reviews directly in your ads signals credibility and confidence to potential buyers before they even visit your site.
Boost Conversions: Social proof embedded in your ads helps remove purchase hesitation, driving more completed transactions.
Reach a Valuable Audience: Microsoft's advertising network (including Bing, Yahoo, and partner sites) reaches millions of unique shoppers who aren't captured by Google alone.
Seamless Setup: Because Microsoft accepts the same XML feed format as Google, your RaveCapture product reviews feed is ready to submit with no additional configuration.
Requirements
Requirements to Display Reviews in Microsoft Shopping
To display your product reviews in Microsoft Shopping Ads, you must meet the following requirements:
At least 50 product reviews overall in your RaveCapture account.
Each product must have at least 3 reviews to display star ratings on individual product listings.
Complete product information is required for each product, including:
Titles
Prices
Links
SKUs/IDs (minimum required: SKU, but including MPN or GTIN improves match rates and approval chances)
Approval by the Microsoft Merchant Center team is required before reviews appear in ads.
Note on GTINs and MPNs: These identifiers need to be added manually to your RaveCapture product library for most integrations. They can be added one at a time by navigating to Catalog > Product Library in the left menu. For bulk updates, contact our support team with a CSV file containing your Product IDs or SKUs, GTINs, and/or MPNs. Multiple values per product can be added, separated by a semicolon without spaces. To review your current product data, go to Settings > Account Settings > Export Data.
Missing product identifiers such as MPN or GTIN can prevent reviews from being matched to products in Microsoft Merchant Center. Keeping these values accurate and up to date in your product library will maximize your feed's effectiveness.
Step 1: Generate Your Microsoft Shopping Feed
Within your RaveCapture account, navigate to Review Management > Microsoft Shopping Ads. This page displays your review count and aggregate star rating data, and generates the product review XML feed you'll submit to Microsoft.
Copy the unique feed URL shown on this page β you'll need it in Step 4.
Step 2: Create a Microsoft Merchant Center Account
You'll need a Microsoft Merchant Center account to submit your product review feed and display ratings in Microsoft Shopping Ads.
If you don't have an account, create one here.
Once logged in, navigate to Microsoft Merchant Center from the top navigation within Microsoft Advertising.
Step 3: Enable Product Reviews in Microsoft Merchant Center
Microsoft Merchant Center must have the Product Reviews feature enabled for your account before you can submit a feed.
In your Microsoft Merchant Center account, go to Settings.
Look for the Product Reviews or Seller Ratings section.
If the option is not visible, contact Microsoft Advertising support to request access to the Product Reviews program for your account.
Once access is confirmed, proceed to Step 4.
Step 4: Submit the RaveCapture Feed in Microsoft Merchant Center
With the Product Reviews feature enabled, follow these steps to submit your RaveCapture feed:
Sign in to your Microsoft Advertising account and open Microsoft Merchant Center.
Select your store.
Click Feeds in the left navigation menu.
Click the Create feed button (or the + icon).
For Feed type, select Product Reviews.
Name your feed "RaveCapture".
For Input method, choose Scheduled fetch.
Configure the fetch settings:
File URL: Paste the unique feed URL copied from the Microsoft Shopping Ads page in your RaveCapture account
Fetch frequency: Daily
Fetch time: 12:00 AM
Click Save to complete setup.
Microsoft will begin fetching and processing your feed on the next scheduled interval. Initial review and approval typically takes a few business days.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Is this the same feed format as the Google Shopping feed? Yes. Microsoft accepts the same Google Product Reviews XML v2.4 schema. Your RaveCapture feed is fully compatible with Microsoft Merchant Center without any modifications.
2. Do I need a separate feed URL for Microsoft vs. Google? Yes. RaveCapture generates a distinct feed URL for each platform. Use the URL found on the Microsoft Shopping Ads page in your RaveCapture account when submitting to Microsoft Merchant Center β do not reuse the Google Shopping feed URL.
3. Can I exclude certain reviews from the feed? No. Microsoft, like Google, requires that all collected reviews be included in the feed. However, any reviews that have been reported and approved for removal will be excluded automatically.
4. How can I improve my feed approval chances?
Include MPN and/or GTIN values for your products in addition to SKUs.
Ensure reviews contain specific product feedback rather than generic comments like "fast shipping."
Keep product titles, prices, and links accurate and up to date in your product library.
5. What if my reviews are rejected due to "missing or invalid product ID"? This typically means your product library is missing GTIN or MPN values. To resolve this:
Confirm that GTINs and/or MPNs are present in your RaveCapture product library under Catalog > Product Library.
Update these individually in your account, or contact RaveCapture support to request a bulk update via CSV.
Verify that your product identifiers in Microsoft Merchant Center match those in your RaveCapture library.
6. How long does Microsoft take to approve the feed? Approval times vary, but initial review typically takes a few business days after your first successful fetch. You can monitor feed status and any error messages directly within Microsoft Merchant Center under Feeds.
7. Can I run both Google and Microsoft Shopping feeds at the same time? Absolutely. RaveCapture supports both feeds simultaneously. Each platform has its own dedicated page and feed URL within your account under Review Management.
8. What if the Product Reviews option isn't visible in my Microsoft Merchant Center account? Not all Microsoft Merchant Center accounts have the Product Reviews feature enabled by default. Contact Microsoft Advertising support to request access. Once enabled, return to Step 4 to complete setup.
